Polka Theatre Faculty Application

As part of the remodelling works that are currently being carried out by the Polka Theatre, they have been advised that they should have a direct route through the garden (that is between Holy Trinity Church and the Polka Theatre) and out on to The Broadway. Currently, the escape route involves an anti-clockwise 90 degree turn, followed by a clockwise 90 degree turn which is far from idea and if retained, safety requirements would see the theatre having to install expensive shutters to their front windows and find additional money on an on-going basis to maintain them.

In order to have a straight line escape route, a small portion of the boundary wall (between the grass in front of the church and The Broadway) needs to be demolished. The DCC and PCC are happy for this to happen, but we need the permission of the Diocese and so we have applied for a Faculty (which if granted means the work can go ahead).

Usually, we would display a Faculty Notice for 28 days both inside and outside the church so that people would see if, be able to view the relevant documents and contact the Registrar about the application directly. However, with the church closed, this is not possible so we are putting the information here and mentioning it in the notice sheet so that we are making as many people aware of the application.

The Faculty Notice can be downloaded in full here. The bulk of the text from this notice is copied below and links have been included so that the various documents can also be downloaded. If further information is required, please email the Parish Office.

NOTICE IS GIVEN that we are applying to the Consistory Court of the diocese for permission to carry out the following:

Alterations to the church's boundary wall, comprising: the demolition of a section of existing wall to create a new gateway, the construction of a new rendered/painted brick pier 'to match existing', the construction of a new section of wall to "infill" the existing (East-facing) gateway, and the relocation of the existing gates from the old to the new gateway.
