Monday to Saturday

Monday to Saturday is a project to develop Christians as leaders in their daily - Monday to Saturday - lives. It is response to the Church of England's Setting God's People Free  initiative and to the Diocese of Southwark's Lay Leadership programme; within our parish it fulfils part of the our Mission Action Plan.

We surveyed our congregation about their perspectives on lay leadership, and we have been drawing on the This Time Tomorrow resource in order to encourage people to share what they do in their Monday to Saturday lives. The presentation from the launch is available to view.

We have also developed a simple toolkit to help people consider what it means to become leaders in their lives, in response to the Five Marks of Mission - we've called this 'My Personal Mission Action Plan'.

During summer 2018, we are inviting members of the congregation to share briefly their own 'This Time Tomorrow' lives during our Parish Eucharist; one person will speak to the congregation each week about what their daily lives involves and how this is a context in which they are called to serve God.

Our hope is that this will not mean adding a further burden to people's already busy lives, but will enable people to name ways in which our lives are already an arena for Christian mission and leadership, and so become more confident in sharing their faith in these contexts.
